The Jackson Journey to Canada

This story is a combined version told by Jasmine and Bo Jackson.

Cyril Robert Jackon went to Cambridge, and studied the classics - was a classicist and taught the classics as a teacher. He was also in the army, serving in the Riffle brigade. After he left the army he became a teacher. Cyril Robert in 1927 or early 1928, got a job in South Africa. Cyril Robert left first and spent several months in South Africa. He enjoyed the climate, school and students - but he decided that he could not bring his family to a country where the colonists were treating the natives so badly. Cyril Robert sent a telegram telling his family not to come.

Meanwhile, in England Dorothy Irene Marsh (his wife) was preparing their family to come to South Africa. She had sold their home and other unneeded possessions. While Dorothy and family were waiting on the pier for the ship to board, a messenger was shouting her name - she had a telegram. Luckily it got their just in time. She immediately cashed in their ship tickets and checked into a hotel to wait for Cyril Robert to return from South Africa.

So in the end they never went to South Africa, shortly after Cyril Robert got a teaching position in Montreal, Quebec, Canada - so they came here instead.
